As the holiday season wraps up and the glittering lights dwindle, residents of Apache Junction have a convenient way to sustainably say farewell to their Christmas trees. Starting Monday, December 29, the city is hosting a free Christmas tree drop-off program, slated to run through Saturday, January 31, 2026. This initiative allows community members to effortlessly participate in keeping their city tidy and green.

Those looking to quickly dispose of their live or freshly cut Christmas trees can utilize a couple of drop-off locations provided by the city. The Apache Junction Animal Control at 725 E. Baseline Ave., is accepting trees around-the-clock, providing a seamless option for late-night disposers. Additionally, residents can bring their trees to Prospector Park, located at 3015 N. Idaho Rd., where drop-off is open from sunrise until 10 p.m. However, it’s crucial to remember to completely strip the trees of all decorations, lights, tinsel, and stands before handing them over, as per the city's guidelines.

Meanwhile, Pinal County also steps in to aid with the disposal of post-holiday foliage. According to a recent announcement, the county offers its specific Christmas tree disposal service for county residents from Tuesday, Dec. 30 to Thursday, Jan. 29. This additional service emphasizes the region's commitment to environmental responsibility and community convenience following the festive season.

Apache Junction officials are urging those who celebrated with real trees to take advantage of these services. "Please remove all decorations, lights, tinsel, and tree stands before dropping off your tree," the official statement notes, reinforcing the importance of prepping the trees in a manner that aids in their efficient recycling or disposal.
