Arlington residents, it's your civic duty (and let's be real, also your chance to secure some bragging rights at the next neighborhood BBQ) to stamp your mark on the blueprint of your local cityscape, namely Fielder Park. According to a social media post from the City of Arlington, TX City Hall, there's an ongoing tango between the city's park planners, design consultants, and, more importantly, the public, on how to shuffle Fielder Park into something extraordinary.
Remember back in October when the Arlington Parks and Recreation got us to fill out surveys like we were back in high school? Now, after sifting through our love and loathing for various park features, they whipped up two preliminary concept plans that are craving your clicks and choices. The City of Arlington, TX City Hall posts a link, urging "Vote on your preferred plan here," and, for once, it's something other than political candidates or reality TV show contestants dangling on the other side of that click.
The community's pulse is key here; the city wants these plans to be shaped by the people who will actually use the park, not just some suit in an office playing real-life SimCity. Also, it's not just a matter of picking the color of the benches or whether there should be an extra water fountain near the dog park—it's about building a space that resonates with the community, invites new visitors, and becomes a fixture in the local culture.
