The spirit of giving knows no bounds in Atlanta, where the U.S. Marine Corps' Toys for Tots campaign is full tilt, according to FOX 5 Atlanta. Local residents are encouraged to visit any Publix store before December 14 to contribute to the festive donation drive. The campaign simplifies charitable actions for busy Atlantans, suggesting they pick up an extra toy while snagging their groceries.
Already, a bounty of footballs, dolls, and craft kits are piling up in collection boxes, FOX 5's Buck Lanford reports after visiting the Publix at Moore’s Mill Center. This Saturday, the "Great Toy Drop" event—promising smiles and the satisfaction of goodwill—is set to take place at the Sandy Plains Road Publix in Marietta, highlighted by the presence of Santa and dedicated Marine volunteers ready to accept toys from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Working in partnership with United Way, Pepsi-Cola, and FOX 5, the Marines express their dedication to bringing joy to families in tough times, as per FOX 5 Atlanta.
Concurrently, in northeast Georgia, with the initiative detailed in a report by AccessWDUN, the Marine Corps League's "Toys for Tots" is in full swing. Spearheading the effort is Kristi Graham, the Hall County Coordinator, who divulged their plans for special toy collection drives, such as a discount-offering drop-off at Lanier Islands Magical Nights of Lights from December 1-8.
Additionally, a "Stuff the Truck" event will be co-hosted by 5 Below on December 6, featuring requisite vehicles, including a Firetruck and Police car to fill with gifts between 12:00 noon and 2:00 p.m. Following suit, Pet Smart in Gainesville is preparing for their own truck-stuffing event on December 13, accompanied by a Gainesville Fire truck and the added gesture of donating stuffed animals to pair with the toys given right into the open arms of the Gainesville High School's Junior ROTC program on December 12. The ROTC students will receive recognition and an opportunity to aid in collections at a special ceremony honoring Col. Robert Gordon, III's members for their consistent generosity.
In addition to the aforementioned events, "Toys for Tots" boxes await new toy donations across multiple locations including Georgia State Patrol barracks, Publix Supermarkets, and community centers throughout Hall County.
