The City of Auburn has issued an update on the traffic and road conditions following some recent closures. Crews from the Public Works department have been diligently working around the clock, and as a result, a few roads have reopened this morning for vehicle use. The update was posted on the City of Auburn's official social media channels, providing locals with the latest information regarding the available routes and areas to avoid.
Currently, northbound Auburn Way North has been cleared for traffic, although the right lane remains closed between 49th St. NW and S. 277th St. due to a persistent gas smell while mitigation efforts continue. Similarly, the West Valley Highway is navigable between 37th St. NW and S. 277th St., keeping in mind that it remains closed between W. Main St. and 15th St. NW. Pike St NE and B St NW have also been reopened, easing some of the congestion for the community.
However, the City of Auburn Government advises that there are still significant closures in place. Drivers are recommended to plan additional routes and expect delays, particularly on northbound streets out of Auburn, including SR167. The following routes remain affected: the right lane of northbound Auburn Way North from 49th St. NW to S. 277th St., northbound B St. NW up to S. 277th St., and parts of West Valley Hwy. Additionally, debris removal on the outside northbound lane of A St. SE near White River Bridge continues to impact traffic flows.
For east-west travel, S. 277th St. is still closed between Auburn Way N and 108th Ave. SE, as well as certain frontage roads. In the central Auburn area, streets like 49th St. NE and D St. NE remain inaccessible, and the Trail Run neighborhood can be entered only via the private gate on 52nd St. NE. The Green River Rd. SE from 100th Ave. SE to the Auburn city limits also continues to be closed. Motorists trying to use State Route 167 will encounter closures in both directions between Auburn and Kent.
