Mickey Lee, a 35-year-old Atlanta resident, is hospitalized in critical condition following multiple cardiac arrests. According to FOX 5 Atlanta, the former "Big Brother" contestant is in the ICU and receiving treatment, with doctors noting a stable condition.
A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to help cover Mickey Lee’s medical and recovery expenses, raising approximately $12,000 of its $22,000 goal so far, according to Entertainment Weekly. “Mickey has touched so many lives through her courage, bold personality, and unforgettable presence on Big Brother,” said Kori Smith, the fundraiser’s organizer, to Page Six. Lee’s family noted that she had been battling the flu prior to the cardiac arrests, and the health crisis has created significant emotional and financial strain due to mounting hospital bills and potential long-term care needs.
Lee, an event curator by profession, was a standout contestant on season 27 of the popular competitive reality show Big Brother, leaving the game on day 59. While attorney Ashley Hollis ultimately won that season, Lee gained recognition for her confidence and bold personality, both inside the Big Brother house and in her public endeavors.
Lee had been recently battling the flu, a condition that remains a significant public health concern nationwide. As per FOX 5 Atlanta, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports that influenza claims thousands of lives annually. This season, flu activity has intensified due to a new variant and lower vaccination rates. Across the United States, the flu has contributed to approximately 1,900 deaths and at least 49,000 hospitalizations, with metro Atlanta reporting 501 hospitalizations and 12 deaths as of December 13.
