Brace yourselves, Bostonians, for a cascade of events and traffic revisions sweeping the city this December. As the holidays approach and the city becomes a frenzy of festive activities, the Boston Transportation Department and Boston.gov have issued advisories that will shape the way residents and visitors navigate the cityscape.

MBTA’s Orange Line will undergo infrastructure repairs today and tomorrow, with shuttle buses replacing train service. Northbound Dartmouth Street, from Columbus Avenue to Stuart Street, will be temporarily closed. Attendees of the Open Newbury Street Holiday Stroll are encouraged to walk or bike rather than drive.

On Sunday, Newbury Street will be closed to vehicles, allowing pedestrians to walk freely for holiday shopping. Parking will also be restricted on Newbury Street and several adjacent streets.

Brighton will host the annual Hanukkah Vehicle Procession on December 18, starting at Dighton Street and Chestnut Hill Avenue. During the weekend, the Mayor’s Enchanted Trolley Tour and Tree Lighting will result in parking restrictions in several neighborhoods.

The Canterbury Street Bridge in Roslindale has been closed since September. Drivers should use detours via Hyde Park Avenue, Cummins Highway, and other nearby routes. Tomorrow, the Seaport District will host the Greg Hill Foundation Jingle All the Way 5K.

During the holiday season, Boston will implement various traffic adjustments and road closures to accommodate events and increased pedestrian activity.
