On Tuesday, the routine monitoring of East Central Avenue by the Campbell County Sheriff's Office (CCSO) turned into a significant drug bust. Sheriff Barton has publicly praised the CCSO personnel for their success. According to a Campbell County Sheriff's Office Post, the incident began with a seemingly minor traffic stop perpetrated by a CCSO Detective Sergeant when a driver, identified as Andy Brad Jones, was noticed without a seat belt.
Jones was found to be driving on a revoked license, with prior offenses confirmed by dispatch. Officers received consent to search the vehicle and discovered contraband. Passenger Bryan Clear admitted to possessing hypodermic needles and a substance believed to be methamphetamine.
Officers found additional amounts of the substance, digital scales, and small baggies, suggesting drug distribution. Matching baggies were also found in Jones’s wallet. Both Jones and Clear were arrested and taken to the Campbell County Jail.
Jones faces several charges, including manufacture, sale, and delivery of Schedule II controlled substances, driving while in possession of methamphetamine, driving on a revoked license, and a seat belt violation. Clear was charged with possession of Schedule II controlled substances.
