In a recent Carrollton City Council meeting, 11 local businesses were spotlighted for their environmental contributions. As reported by the City of Carrollton, the 2025 Environmental Leadership Recognition was awarded to these companies for a full year of strict adherence to sustainability and regulatory practices. Mayor Steve Babick and Mayor Pro Tem Christopher Axberg honored recipients for over a century of collective environmental stewardship.
A mix of long-standing and first-time awardees was celebrated for innovative approaches to eco-friendly operations. With Century Products; Electro Plate Circuitry – Capital Drive and Century Drive; Illes Foods; Image Industries; International Paper Company – Belt Line Road; Quality Powder Coating; Quantum Global Technologies, LLC.; Ralcorp Frozen Bakery Products; Swiss-American CDMO; Texas Finishing Company; and Wash Solutions bagging the awards, the city acknowledged their individual approaches to mitigate waste and protect natural resources. Notably, five of these businesses went a step further, earning the Environmental Distinction Award for their exceptional sustainable practices.
According to the city's announcement, an independent panel that includes environmental quality managers and a City Council member rigorously reviews these companies each year. Selected companies must not only meet but exceed requirements, demonstrating a proactive attitude toward pollution prevention and environmental conservation. Ralcorp Frozen Bakery Products, for instance, has impressively increased its cardboard recycling by over 400 percent, whereas Century Products, Inc. partnered with Ecolab to reduce water usage significantly.
Efforts to enhance sustainability span diverse industries within Carrollton. Electro Plate Circuitry, for example, increased their recycled copper capture by 13 percent, cleaning up litter regularly in a city program, ironically, as an Adopt-A-Spot, where they maintain a Carrollton site quarterly. Image Industries, serving medical and technology entities, has upgraded its A/C units and roof insulation this year to reduce its energy footprint, while also committing to recycling all metal, paper, and cardboard.
Swiss-American CDMO, a new entrant to these accolades, introduced motion sensor LED lighting and cut back on water and chemical use, with their recycling efforts ticking up by 54 percent from the previous year. The City of Carrollton, in recognizing such accomplishments, affirms the local businesses' alignment with community values, aiming for an environmentally sustainable future.
