
A fatal accident occurred in Catawba County yesterday, resulting in the death of 68-year-old Uribe Enedino and leaving two others critically injured. According to QC News, the collision happened around 5:30 p.m. on 12th Avenue Drive. The North Carolina State Highway Patrol reported that Enedino’s Honda Civic failed to stop at a stop sign due to a medical condition he experienced shortly before the crash.
The crash occurred about half a mile off Highway 321, with Enedino’s vehicle first striking a parked car and then a utility pole. The North Carolina State Highway Patrol reported that a medical emergency caused Enedino to lose control of the vehicle. Enedino was pronounced dead at the scene. Two passengers, a 21-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman, identified as Jose Uribe and Rosa Uribe, were critically injured and transported to a local hospital. As per WBTV, Rosa Uribe was not wearing a seatbelt while seated in the back.
Following the crash, the road was closed for approximately two hours to allow for an on-scene investigation, as reported by WCNC. Authorities continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident, including the role of medical emergencies in traffic safety.
