Kids in Champlin can once again channel their inner martial artist this winter as the city's popular Taekwondo program makes its return. Starting on January 7 and kicking it through February 11, the City of Champlin has announced the comeback of its winter Taekwondo classes for children. The news, which came via a Facebook post, promises a mix of fun and discipline with six weeks of lessons each Wednesday from 5:45 pm to 6:45 pm.
The classes, open to young enthusiasts, aim to instill respect and discipline while teaching the basics of Taekwondo. At a cost of $75, parents can register their kids for the program online. And according to the social media post, there's no need for a traditional uniform – loose-fitting clothes will do just fine for these non-progressive classes that encourage drop-ins at any time during the session.
Under the tutelage of instructors from the Osseo World Taekwondo Academy, young participants will not only learn to kick and punch but also start to understand the value of self-control and perseverance. Each class is slated to include a thorough warm-up and the necessary stretching to ensure safety and the promotion of flexibility among the junior martial artists.
