Chesterfield High School, which had been secured under a lockdown amidst a manhunt for an alleged shooter, has reopened its doors after the apprehension of the suspect. The individual in question, identified as Billy "Beaver" Lisenby, was on the run following a shooting incident in Anson County. QCNews reported earlier that the Chesterfield County Sheriff's Office had urged residents to be cautious and to stay indoors when possible during the search.
It was this morning that the Chesterfield Police heightened their presence around Chesterfield High School, indicating the commencement of their pursuit for the wanted man. Billy Lisenby was not only known to the authorities for the recent violent occurrence but was also flagged as armed and dangerous. As Chesterfield High School students tried to focus on their lessons, they were unaware the manhunt was winding down, as WCNC disclosed the lockdown was effectively lifted following the suspect's capture.
Deputies had initiated the lockdown as a precaution due to the approximate location of the search to Chesterfield High School. According to a WBTV report, Lisenby was eventually arrested at a Dollar Tree along Highway 9, sometime around 11:15 a.m. today.
In the wake of the suspect being deemed no longer a threat, with him being safely detained, families gathered at the school's perimeter, relief palpable in their impatient wait to reconnect with their children inside.
