An ICE agent based in Cincinnati is currently behind bars, facing multiple charges, including felonious assault and domestic violence. Samuel Saxon, 47, has been ordered held without bond, a directive requested by Hamilton County prosecutors and confirmed by a spokesperson for the office.
The incident leading to Saxon's arrest involved him allegedly putting a woman he lives with into a chokehold, resulting in "serious physical harm," FOX19 reports. This is not the first time police have been called to the residence, there have been approximately 22 visits within the last eighteen months, as detailed by an officer during a court hearing. The ongoing issues were further highlighted when authorities described the victim as uncooperative, whereas an eyewitness was prepared to provide testimony.
The Enquirer adds that in addition to the chokehold accusation, court records note the infliction of serious physical harm as part of the charges leveled against Saxon.
Prosecutors are pushing for a stringent measure of containment, advocating to keep Saxon detained without the option for bond. Meanwhile, a temporary protection order has been put in place, with a subsequent no-bond hearing scheduled for Thursday morning, as WLWT highlights the measure as an immediate step following the arrest. The hearing is set to determine the next steps for Saxon's detainment awaiting trial over the allegations.
The gravity of these charges, complemented by the prosecutors' insistence on no bond, underlines the severity with which the legal system is treating the case. Saxon's role as an ICE agent adds a layer of public scrutiny to the proceedings, as the community looks on to see how justice will be administered in a matter involving one of its law enforcement officers.
