Clayton Police Department (CPD) officers responded to several incidents over the past week, including tire slashing and overturned vehicles, according to their weekly report. In the Moorlands Neighborhood, a resident reported damaged tires on her SUV and suspects her ex-boyfriend, who has access to the building’s garage and is known to carry a pocketknife. CPD is continuing to gather information as part of the investigation.

During a routine patrol, a CPD officer observed a Volkswagen sedan with license plates registered to a different vehicle. Further investigation revealed that the driver had a felony warrant for Aggravated Fleeing. He was arrested and will be extradited by the Manchester Police Department. The driver also faces traffic violation summonses in Clayton, according to the City of Clayton.

Another incident involved an overturned vehicle, with the driver admitting to fleeing a previous crash due to not having a valid driver’s license. The driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital. A court date has been scheduled through Clayton Municipal Court. In a separate case, a hospitalized woman reported her cellphone stolen. Her husband located the phone at an unknown address in East St. Louis, Illinois, and no suspects have been identified.

The CPD responded to a trespassing incident at an office building on S. Bemiston, detaining a man attempting to set up shelter on the property who also had active warrants. He was handed over to the Richmond Heights Police Department and trespassed from the building. Additionally, a resident reported the theft of his bicycle carrier, and another reported two Samsung speakers stolen from his storage locker. CPD is investigating these thefts, which are part of a series of similar incidents in the area.

In a follow-up to an earlier case, Brentwood Police Department officers recovered a delivery driver’s vehicle that had been reported stolen. The vehicle was processed for potential evidence and has since been returned to its owner. Additionally, a CPD officer was approached by a passerby who found a wallet in the Moorlands Neighborhood and is working to return it to its rightful owner.
