Residents in the neighborhood near Clinton Highway were put on alert earlier this week as Rural Metro Fire crews responded to a major house fire on the area’s outskirts. The fire broke out at a mobile home on Wade Daniel’s Lane, a distressing afternoon event that fortunately did not result in human injury. According to a social media post by Rural Metro Fire - Knox County, the blaze was reported around 12:15 pm and upon arrival, the crew found the center of the structure engulfed in flames.
The occupant, alongside two pets, were outside and safe by the time firefighters arrived, but the aftermath was not without its casualties. "Three pets were found dead in the rubble," the fire department reported. The fire personnel managed to extinguish the inferno before it could spread to adjacent homes. Meanwhile, the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Clinton Highway faced disruptions for approximately 45 minutes owing to fire fighting operations, as crews utilized a hydrant from the other side of the thoroughfare. The prompt action by Rural Metro Fire ensured that the highway was clear for traffic soon after. In the post-incident phase, Red Cross stepped in to offer assistance to the affected occupant, providing support in the wake of the blaze.
With winter's chill in full swing, Rural Metro Fire took the incident as an opportunity to issue a warning—urging local residents to exercise caution with their electrical usage, especially in relation to heaters and Christmas lights.
