The latest figures from Colorado Springs Airport (COS) reveal a 5.6% drop in passenger traffic for the month of November, amounting to a total of 184,377 travellers as reported by the commercial airlines operating there. According to Colorado Springs Airport, factors affecting this decline include the typical seasonality of air travel, the brief U.S. government shutdown, and flight restrictions from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Despite this, COS was not included on the FAA's list for flight restrictions, yet still experienced residual effects with 74 cancelled flights resulting from restraints at other airports.
Amidst a fluctuating travel landscape, Colorado Springs Airport continues to press towards its strategic growth plans, which look to expand air service offerings and nurture airline partnerships. In their ongoing effort to enhance the travel experience for passengers, COS has rolled out the 'FlyMyAirport' tool on their site, making it simpler to spot the best travel deals direct from the airport. While facing seasonal dips and the sporadic hiccups of aviation bureaucracy, the airport persists in shaping itself as an essential transport node in the Pikes Peak region. They're all set for the art aficionados too, with submissions for the inaugural Art at COS exhibition now closed and an awaited installation, and an opening reception is scheduled for mid-January.
A batch of air service updates was announced, notably the return of Southwest Airlines’ seasonal international flights to Cancun, which took off on November 22. If you're plotting a getaway, tickets are up for grabs for flights scheduled over selected dates in December 2025 and extending into spring of 2026. Southwest is also reviving its seasonal route to San Antonio, timed impeccably for the holiday rush, and come March 5, it's stepping up to deliver daily services to Houston. By the way, they've given Gates 1 and 3 a facelift, and despite the construction dance happening around concourse ramps, travellers can breeze through using the new temporary exit at Gate 1.
