As the holiday season wraps up, the City of Concord Government is offering reminders to residents about how to properly dispose of Christmas trees and other holiday greenery. Making it convenient for the community, live trees and greenery can be left curbside along with regular yard waste, but there are a few key details to keep in mind to ensure a swift pick-up and eco-friendly process.
According to a recent public announcement made on Facebook by the city government, they have urged that all live trees should have tree stands, lights, ornaments, and tinsel removed before being placed at the curb. Additionally, residents are advised to keep their live trees and wreaths separate from their loose leaves. This detail is crucial for ensuring that the materials are processed correctly and helps maintain the efficiency of waste services during this busy time.
The advisory also makes an distinction for artificial trees and wreaths. Unlike their live counterparts, these synthetic decorations are not to be left with yard waste as it does not biodegrade in the same fashion. Instead, artificial trees and wreaths should be disposed of as garbage and placed curbside with bulky trash.
Cognizant of how easy it can be to forget trash collection schedules, the City of Concord has recommended the use of the CARTology App, which residents can download, or visit their website at concordnc.gov/whatsmyday to help keep track of collection days.
