Sorrow hangs over Dallas Fort Worth International Airport as they announce the passing of DFW Airport Police Sgt. Charles “Alan” Works. The Irving Police Department shared their sympathies in a social media post, expressing "deepest condolences to the DFW Airport Police Department on the loss of a brother in blue," and extending thoughts and prayers to Sgt. Works' family and colleagues during this difficult period. One unfortunate event led to another sadness, as Sgt. Works had experienced a medical emergency while actively engaged in his duties at the airport.
Working with dedication since 2007, Sgt. Works had been wearing different hats, which included his tenure at the Denton County Sheriff’s Office and at the Tarrant County College Police Department, before he made his way to the DFW Airport Police Department in 2020. Always seen with his iconic cowboy hat, Sgt. Works was a familiar and grounding sight at the airport, embodying both professionalism and compassion, as per the memories of those who served with him.
Sgt. Works' career was marked by his elevation to the rank of sergeant in August 2022, a role in which he was quick to earn respect. His skills and commitment were recognized with the receipt of a Certificate of Merit in 2023, and he played a vital role as a Field Training Officer and as a member of the Police Honor Guard. Witnessing the respect he commanded during his illustrious career, as it has been highlighted, is a testament to his dedication and service.
