A distraught Detroit man, Rod Stanley, and the All About Animals Rescue are offering a $2,000 reward for the safe return of two dogs, Annie and Lucky, following the theft of his minivan. His vehicle was stolen from an auto parts store on Chicago and Hubbell avenues, leaving the owner heartbroken and without his pets. WXYZ reports Stanley's sense of urgency, stating, "Them little dogs is everything to me… if I had to take my rent money to pay them, I don't care," and "I just ask if you have any kind of heart, any kind of heart, just bring the dogs back."
The theft, caught on video, shows the perpetrators in another red minivan stealing Stanley's red 2009 Chrysler Town & Country, as per a social media post by the All About Animals Rescue. The incident took place outside of Ryan's Pick-A-Part Self Service Auto and Truck Parts on Hubbell Avenue. The dogs, one of which is microchipped, were wearing light brown Carhartt jackets at the time of the abduction, and while the outer appearance of the pets may vary due to grooming, it is hoped someone recognizes them regardless.
A joint effort between the auto shop and All About Animals Rescue has led to the reward being increased from the initial offer of $1,000 to $2,000. The increased reward reflects the urgency and importance of finding the animals. CBS News Detroit shared details about the missing dogs' descriptions and noted, "According to the animal organization, Annie is microchipped, and she and Lucky may look different than what's shown in the above photo."
The rescue organization's director, Kristen Huston, highlighted the bond between Stanley and the animals, telling WXYZ that, "They are just amazing, amazing dogs and we just want them to be safe." The rescue has also emphasized that their primary concern is for the return of the dogs, stating, "Our plea is we don't care about the van… no questions asked, we just want the dogs returned."
The search for the missing dogs, Annie and Lucky, has gathered the attention of the local community, and a plea goes out to anyone with information.
