The residents of Doña Ana County have been formally invited to play a significant role in the development of two new recreation centers through a sequence of drop-in sessions designed to collect community input on the amenities and features they wish to see. The initiative, supported by the recent voter-approved General Obligation Bond, promises to enhance recreational offerings for the northern and southern regions of the county, as reported by Doña Ana County.
Beginning on December 9 and stretching across various dates and locations, these gatherings are set to facilitate direct conversations between residents and county representatives, including County Commissioners and staff, allowing for an exchange of ideas and community priorities the new facilities are intended to serve residents of Districts 2 and 5, the named hosts for the upcoming recreation centers, and with a desire to reflect the directive handed down by the electorate, the drop-in sessions represent the county's dedication to democracy and collaborative community engagement.
The decision-making process will be interactive, featuring 'dot-voting,' a method that lets participants visually cast their votes for potential amenities such as playgrounds, athletic fields, and aquatic facilities. These sessions will occur at various locations within Districts 2 and 5, including sites on Airport Road, Mercantil Avenue, La Fe Avenue, La Vina Road, and Lincoln Street for District 2, alongside Ledesma Drive, Lindbeck Road, and W. Hall Street for District 5, thus ensuring various opportunities for community involvement.
