The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has escalated the charges against Daysia Kiwanna Ivey-Bolden, a 29-year-old woman from Eastman, GA, in connection with a shooting that happened in November. The incident, which took place on the 200 block of 1st Avenue, Eastman, resulted in the critical injury of 44-year-old Ernie Jordan, who was reportedly in a personal relationship with Ivey-Bolden. Jordan succumbed to his injuries a day later, on Sunday, according to information released by the GBI.
Initially charged with Aggravated Assault and Possession of a Firearm or Knife During Commission of or Attempt to Commit Certain Crimes, Ivey-Bolden is now facing additional arrest warrants as of yesterday. These include charges for Malice Murder, Felony Murder, Aggravated Battery, Tampering with Evidence, and Simple Battery, as reported by the GBI. The update marks the case taking a turn to not only include an investigation into an assault but to also now probe into a suspected homicide.
Jordan was taken to a trauma center early in the morning following the incident but did not survive the assault, igniting the shift in the nature of charges. Ivey-Bolden was taken into custody and booked into the Dodge County Jail, which was detailed in the original press release by the GBI.
The GBI has taken a leading role in the ongoing investigation and encourages the public to come forward with any relevant information. Tips can be submitted anonymously by calling 1-800-597-TIPS(8477), or they may choose to submit tips online. The final case file, after the investigation concludes, is expected to be handed over to the Oconee District Attorney’s Office for a thorough review and to potentially launch a prosecution.
