El Paso Community College (EPCC) is gearing up to honor the academic accomplishments of its Fall 2025 graduating class this December 12th, with a focus on the military-affiliated students among its ranks. Set to take place at the UTEP Don Haskins Center, the commencement will feature two ceremonies at 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. to celebrate over 1,500 "Tejanos" who have completed Associate Degrees and Certificate programs, according to EPCC News.

In a move to commemorate the dual achievement of military service and academic success, EPCC's Veterans Resource Center (VRC) is issuing military honor cords to eligible graduating veterans. Serving as a "one-stop" resource for military-affiliated students, the VRC offers crucial support on educational benefits and academic advising, with the cord distribution aiming to give the veterans visible recognition as they graduate. "We are incredibly proud of our military-affiliated students who have demonstrated extraordinary commitment both in their service and in their studies," Carl Dwyer, Director of the EPCC Veterans Resource Center, told EPCC News. "Issuing the military honor cords is a small but meaningful way to visibly honor their service as they cross the stage."

EPCC's efforts in supporting its military community don't end there. The college has built a reputation for aiding students in utilizing VA and state benefits, like the Hazlewood Act, to ensure a smooth academic journey. This includes active duty personnel, veterans, reservists, National Guard members, and their dependents, all of whom have access to resources tailored to the unique challenges faced by members of the military community. The upcoming graduation ceremonies will not only mark the completion of rigorous academic programs for these students but also stand as a testament to their service and dedication.
