The spirit of giving is alive and well in El Paso as the school district has launched its annual Toys for Tots holiday campaign, reaching out to students, educators, and all community members to chip in a toy or two or maybe even three; it's a time to ensure every child experiences the warmth of the festive season. Until December 12th, people are encouraged to drop off new, unwrapped toys, which will find their way into the hands of children who need them the most, courtesy of a partnership with the venerable U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots program.
El Paso Independent School District (EPISD) has been a pillar of proactive community engagement, and this year's toy drive is no exception, with a clear call for donations that will let the young ones know they're thought of, they're cared for, and no, they are not forgotten in the yuletide cheer. You can find collection boxes at the district's central office as well as El Paso High School, Burges High School, Kohlberg Elementary, Hillside Elementary, and Delta Operations Center. The venues cover a broad swath, ensuring no one's stroll to altruism stretches too long.
In a statement obtained by El Paso ISD, the district calls on the community to "help spread joy this holiday season," an invitation that mirrors the broader ethos of a region historically steeped in collaborative social uplift. The Toys for Tots drive has a legacy spanning over 75 years, and EPISD's participation reels in a layer of local commitment, promising a surge of happiness among children when gifts are in short supply at their homes.
