The El Paso County Sheriff's Office recently took to social media to extend gratitude to Commissioner Butler for backing a resolution that recognizes the department's effort in maintaining peace during significant community events. The operation, which encompassed the Fourth of July and Turkey Run, was noted for its remarkable success, specifically its zero fatalities and the absence of major incidents in the Red Sands area.
Leadership from El Paso County didn't miss out on the acknowledgment train, with thanks also directed at the County Judge and Commissioners Court for their steadfast support. Commissioner Butler's advocacy speaks to the collaboration between law enforcement agencies and elected officials, a unity of purpose that is mirrored in the positive outcome of these events. El Paso County Sheriff Oscar Ugarte addressed this partnership directly, “We are grateful to the El Paso County Judge and Commissioners Court for their continued support, and to our law enforcement partners for their collaboration in keeping our community safe.”
The emphasis on collaboration extends beyond mere protocol. It is emblematic of a larger, community-centric approach to public safety that the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office seems to pursue with resolute consistency. The operations, strategically timed to coincide with festivities when incidents are more likely to happen, appear to be part of a proactive plan to ensure that community gatherings are not just times of celebration, but also of peace and safety.
