For those looking to ring in the New Year from a lofty perch, Pikes Peak is hosting the AdAmAn VIP Fireworks Event on December 31. In a release published by the City of Colorado Springs, attendees can secure their spot to witness the fireworks from the picturesque Crystal Reservoir at the Pikes Peak North Slope Recreation Area.
The event gets underway at 10:30 p.m. with Pikes Peak Ranger staff leading guests to the Crystal Reservoir Visitor Center parking area. Despite the late hour and a potential chill in the air, the guided journey to mile 6 on the Pikes Peak Highway is designed to be safe and accessible. Once there, enthusiasts can enjoy outdoor viewing areas specially set up for the spectacle, set against a starry sky.
There's more to the night than explosions and bright colors in the skies. Fireside chats with AdAmAn Club members Nick Baki and Dave Hunting lend a warm and personal touch to the experience, as stated in the event details from Colorado Springs. To ward off the winter cold, food and hot drinks are available for purchase, along with souvenirs to commemorate the festive occasion.
Interested parties need to act quickly; admission tickets and timed-entry permits will not be sold at the entrance and must be purchased online in advance. There are only 70 timed-entry permits available, priced at $2 each. Entry fees are $20 for adults, $10 for children aged 6 to 15, and kids 5 years and under can join for free. For those bringing a crew, a carload rate of $70 gets up to five passengers in.
Pikes Peak asks visitors to respect the environment and local wildlife by adhering to all event rules. Among these regulations, as noted by the City of Colorado Springs, no alcohol, drugs, personal fireworks, drones, or dogs off-leash are allowed. Moreover, all viewing will be confined to specific areas only to help protect the natural beauty of Crystal Reservoir.
