After nearly three years closed, the century-old Faust Hotel in downtown New Braunfels is preparing for a $4.5 million revival, with upgraded rooms, new food-and-drink concepts, and event space. The hotel aims to reopen in spring 2026, featuring 45 guest rooms—including nine junior suites and six corner suites convertible to three-bedroom setups—and a roughly 2,000-square-foot Grand Ballroom for weddings and events, MySA reports.

Rooms, Suites And Events

The renovation reduces the hotel’s room count from 63 to 45 to provide larger units with king beds and upgraded bathrooms, Community Impact reports. The ballroom, with a capacity of about 110 guests, and meeting spaces will host small conferences, weddings, and rehearsal dinners, with valet service and other event amenities planned.

Food, Drinks And A Speakeasy

The hotel’s main dining venue, Wilhelm & Werner, is a Texas brasserie with European influences and seating for about 130 guests, MySA reports. Below it, a Prohibition-style speakeasy, Walter’s, will serve craft cocktails, while the Prince Solms Lobby Bar and Magnolia Patio offer additional indoor and outdoor drink options for guests and locals.

Preserving The Building's Character

Designers have preserved many original ground-floor features, including stairway tiles, the front desk, a phone booth, sconces, lobby tiles, and the exterior fountain. Exposed brick walls and cement columns complement the refreshed design, balancing the hotel’s 1929 roots with modern boutique-hotel finishes, the downtown New Braunfels business directory reports.

What It Could Mean For Downtown

The Faust’s reopening coincides with downtown efforts to encourage visitors to stay in the city center. Officials have discussed tools like a Tourism Public Improvement District to boost marketing and room nights, Community Impact reports. Owners and city leaders say a full-service downtown hotel will support restaurants, shops, and events year-round. The Duettra family, which owns the property, said it is honored to steward the landmark and welcomes guests again. General manager Rosalyn Vasquez’s contact info is listed with the local chamber, and the hotel continues to share updates ahead of its 2026 reopening.
