Last week, Fernandina Beach hosted a training to improve speed enforcement. The Fernandina Beach Police Department held a CJSTC and FDLE-certified 40-hour Speed Measurement Course to train officers in using radar and laser speed-measuring equipment, helping ensure safer streets in Florida.
The Fernandina Beach Police Department shared in a social media post that the training included both the theory and practice of speed measurement. Officers learned to identify speeding vehicles, estimate speeds accurately, and use their equipment properly. The course also covered the legal aspects of Doppler radar and the terms needed to present evidence and testimony in court.
Hands-on training was a key part of the course, with officers completing more than 12 hours of practical exercises. They applied their skills in real-world scenarios to ensure accurate and reliable speed enforcement, supporting overall law enforcement effectiveness and community safety.
