Demorris Albright, a 42-year-old known gang member, has been handed a 50-year prison sentence after pleading guilty to drug possession charges. The conviction is a result of a traffic stop by Fort Worth police, when they discovered methamphetamine in Albright's vehicle.
The Tarrant County District Attorney's Office shared the news, commending the officers for their vigilance. Albright was initially pulled over for a minor traffic violation, but the stop escalated quickly to an arrest once officers found the narcotics. Assistant District Attorney Michael Ferry prosecuted the case, with Sean Wheetley serving as the lead investigator.
While specifics of the traffic stop have not been disclosed, Albright's guilty plea saved the need for a drawn-out trial. His sentencing reflects the serious nature of the charge; possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine carries substantial penalties. The Fort Worth Police Department has been praised for its involvement, with the DA's statement hailing their commitment "to keeping our community safe."
