The National Weather Service in Norman, OK, warns motorists that visibility may drop to a quarter mile or less due to freezing fog conditions. A Freezing Fog Advisory is in effect until 10:00 AM CST this morning for parts of central, east central, northern, southern, and southwest Oklahoma, including Oklahoma City, as well as north Texas. The advisory follows the cancellation of an earlier Dense Fog Advisory.

According to the Freezing Fog Advisory, affected areas could see slick roads and bridges, especially where temperatures remain at or below freezing. Drivers are advised, "If driving, slow down, use your headlights, and leave plenty of distance ahead of you." The low visibility could make for hazardous driving conditions across the region during this period.

The detailed NWS forecast for Oklahoma City today predicts that areas of dense fog will persist between 9 am and noon, with areas of dense freezing fog occurring before 9 am. Once the fog lifts, residents can expect mostly sunny skies with a high near 52 degrees and a south wind blowing at 5 to 10 mph. Moving into tonight, the skies will turn partly cloudy with a low around 36 degrees, and south winds shifting north northwest after midnight.

The advisory spans multiple cities, including Hinton, Guthrie, Anadarko, Wichita Falls, Lawton, and Duncan. In addition to slick surfaces, the advisory warns of potential road hazards due to reduced visibility. The weather is expected to improve by midday, but drivers should exercise caution during the early morning hours. Additionally, temperatures are set to rise slightly in the coming days, with Sunday's high near 43 degrees and a high near 49 degrees forecasted for Monday.
