The City of Grand Prairie is taking strides to upgrade its green spaces with Turner Park Phase II, now officially a work in progress. Aimed at elevating the park experience, the Parks, Arts, and Recreation Department of the city has announced a bundle of improvements slated for completion by August 2026. The City of Grand Prairie touted new lighted walking trails, a forward-thinking children’s play area, and more to enhance the park’s usability.
With safety and inclusiveness in mind, Turner Park at 600 N. Belt Line Road is set to welcome early risers and night owls alike with its illuminated pathways. But the upgrade isn't just about lighting; a picnic shade structure, additional parking spaces, and a new restroom facility are in the works to handle the increasing number of visitors. As the city digs in, residents can look forward to new benches and seats to kick back on. Even the eastern chunk of Park Square loop road is getting axed to smooth out traffic flow, according to the city's outline.
For community gatherings and larger events, the blueprints show off a sizable pavilion poised to become a hub for celebrations and local programs. Alongside this, Turner Park will also see an uptick in green with 39 new trees, complete with irrigation, not to mention landscaping updates aimed at bolstering the park's stormwater management and a new monument sign to mark its South Belt Line Road entrance.
