Governor Josh Green of Hawai’i has ordered the U.S. and state flags to be lowered to half-staff at the State Capitol, state offices, and National Guard locations. The directive follows mass shootings at Brown University and Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia.
Flags will be flown at half-staff immediately and remain so until sunset on Friday, December 19, according to the Office of the Governor of Hawaiʻi. Governor Green expressed condolences to the communities affected by the shootings at Brown University and Sydney. The people of Hawaiʻi stand with these communities as they grieve. Lowering our flags honors the lives lost, supports the families, and calls for an end to senseless violence.
