The Hayward Police Department recently reported a breakthrough in a homicide case dating back to July of this year. According to information provided by the department, on July 19, 42-year-old Hayward resident Michael Flunoy called 911 claiming his girlfriend, 46-year-old Susana Vallejos, was suffering from a drug overdose at his residence located at 1015 Highland Blvd. Despite immediate life-saving measures, Vallejos was pronounced dead at the scene.
During the investigation, inconsistencies emerged in the statements of Flunoy and his roommate, David Lynn, prompting further scrutiny by detectives. Following a meticulous effort involving interviews, search warrants, and analysis of evidence by the Hayward Police Department's Homicide Unit and Senior Homicide Detective Nick Niedenthal, Vallejos' autopsy revealed a far more sinister cause of her death. The autopsy found that she had succumbed to homicidal violence, specifically head trauma and manual strangulation, with toxicology reports showing no illegal drugs in her system at the time of her death.
In collaboration with the Alameda County District Attorney's Office, arrest warrants were issued based on these findings. Flunoy and Lynn were taken into custody last Monday and Tuesday, respectively, with Flunoy being booked for the aggravated murder of Susana Vallejos and David Lynn for being an accessory after the fact, according to a recent press release by the Hayward Police Department.
