On Sunday evening, a hiker fell 50 feet on Solar Slab, sustaining a head injury, prompting a rescue led by Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Search and Rescue. The hiker’s companions helped them to the base of the climbing route before emergency personnel arrived, as reported the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Search and Rescue.
Fire Department crews initially responded on foot while the AIR1 helicopter was dispatched to assist. A Search and Rescue officer was hoisted down to provide aid and prepare the hiker for evacuation, as stated by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Search and Rescue.
According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Search and Rescue on their Instagram account, a hiker with serious injuries was rescued using AIR1’s hoist system while the rest of the group exited on foot with fire department assistance; the injured hiker was taken to the Bureau of Land Management helipad and then transported by ambulance to a hospital.
