A Las Vegas mattress store owner says she is out roughly $10,000 after thieves broke into her shop, hauled away five mattresses, and ripped the Ring doorbell camera right off the wall before taking it with them. The break-in happened at Mattress Mania Furniture near Durango and Tropicana, according to News 3 (KSNV), leaving the owner without much evidence to hand investigators.
Owner Says Camera Was Torn Off and Taken
According to the store owner, the suspect did not just steal merchandise but also went after the store's security equipment, as reported by KSNV. The owner said the thief removed the store's Ring doorbell camera, threw it, and took it with them, which left her without footage of the incident from her own equipment. She told the station she does not have video from her own camera, a gap that complicates efforts to identify who was responsible.
The loss itself was significant for a small business. The owner said thieves broke into her business and stole five mattresses, putting the total damage at about $10,000, as reported by News 3 (KSNV). That figure covers the mattresses themselves, according to her account, though the station's report did not detail whether additional costs were tied to the broken camera or property damage from the break-in.
Investigators Turning to Neighboring Businesses
With the store's own camera gone, the owner pointed to another possible source of leads. She said nearby businesses may have surveillance footage that could help investigators piece together what happened and who was involved. That kind of secondhand footage is often the difference-maker in commercial burglary cases where a target business loses its own recording equipment.
Police asked anyone with information about the break-in to contact Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555; tips can be made anonymously, as noted by News 3 (KSNV). Tips can be made anonymously, giving members of the public a way to come forward without attaching their name to the report.
Mattress Mania describes itself as a family owned local business serving the Las Vegas Valley, according to its own website. The retailer says it specializes in selling liquidated mattresses at wholesale prices and will deliver a mattress straight to a customer's door anywhere in the Las Vegas Valley, per Mattress Mania. For now, the business is left waiting on tips from the community while police work with whatever outside footage they can gather.
