In a heartfelt token of appreciation, TSA officers at Tampa International Airport (TPA) received a financial boost from U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem. During a visit to TPA, the secretary distributed $10,000 bonus checks to the officers in recognition of their exceptional service, particularly during a grueling 43-day federal government shutdown. The announcement, made via the TSA’s official press release, emphasized the Trump administration's support for the TSA workers who maintained their posts, ensuring American travelers' safety despite the financial uncertainties they faced personally.
Among the grateful is Keishliany Madrid Medina, a TSA officer at TPA, who expressed her honor in receiving the generous award. "I felt truly honored and thrilled to receive the $10,000 award from Secretary Noem," Madrid Medina told in the TSA’s press release. Her commitment to protecting the nation's transportation systems has been unwavering, reflected in her daily endeavors to uphold the oath she took to defend the public's safety.
Holding a magnifying glass to the resolute spirit of the TSA workforce, Kirk Skinner, TSA federal security director for Tampa International Airport, lavished praise upon his team. He highlighted their unwavering dedication and professionalism throughout the shutdown, as reported by the TSA. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has allocated carryover funds from the fiscal year 2025 to address these bonuses.
