Homicide detectives with Las Vegas police were called out to the southwest valley last night, responding to a scene that shut down a busy stretch of roadway and had drivers scrambling for detours.
Officers headed to the 7200 block of Powers Street, near Warm Springs Road and South Fort Apache, and authorities urged motorists to steer clear of the area while investigators went to work.
Homicide Unit On The Scene
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Section was dispatched to the location, according to News 3 Las Vegas. The station reported that the Regional Transportation Commission announced all lanes on Warm Springs were blocked up to Plushtone Street and advised drivers to use alternate routes while the investigation remained active.
Confusion Over Exact Cross Streets
Local outlets did not entirely agree on the precise crossroads. The Las Vegas Review-Journal described the incident as occurring near the 7200 block of Power Street and Quarterhorse Lane. Police have stressed that all information so far is preliminary, and they have not released any suspect names or the identity of the victim.
Traffic Headaches And Recent Trouble On Warm Springs
Warm Springs Road is a heavily used east to west route through the southwest valley, and it has already seen serious incidents this month. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department reported that last Friday a vehicle crashed into an unhoused encampment along the corridor, killing one person.
In this latest case, officials say details remain preliminary as detectives sort through what happened, and closures on Warm Springs could last for hours, News 3 Las Vegas reported.
Metro has not released any information about a possible motive or arrests. This story will be updated as Clark County authorities or the department provide additional details.
