A recent encounter on the streets of Horizon City has led to an arrest for public intoxication, as reported by the local police department's social media page. The Horizon City Police Department engaged with a man identified as Nicholas Joel Hernandez during the early hours of Saturday, November 29. At about 2:13 AM, officers were conducting a welfare check near Horizon Boulevard, close to a local hospital when they came across Hernandez.
According to the Horizon City Police Department, Hernandez appeared clearly intoxicated, struggling to even safely provide his address. He disclosed to the officers that he was attempting to walk home after his friends had left him behind following an evening of drinking. Focused on ensuring the safety of both Hernandez and the public, the officers found it necessary to take him into custody.
Drawing attention to the implications of alcohol consumption and community responsibility, the Horizon PD's post serves as a reminder of the risks entailed. "We’d like to remind our community to look out for one another, especially when alcohol is involved," the post advised. The statement urged individuals to plan a safe ride home and to not leave friends unsupervised when they are impaired.
As the situation evolved, Hernandez was reported to have become combative while being transported in the patrol unit. The behavior led to his subsequent booking into the El Paso County Detention Facility. The Horizon City Police Department encourages residents to remain vigilant. "If you see someone who may need help, contact HCPD or call 9-1-1," the department stressed in their communication.
