
A Jacksonville man is on the path to recovery after a harrowing incident in which he was shot by his roommate while asleep in his own bed. According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, the attack took place around 12:30 p.m. on Thursday within the confines of a home located on the 2700 block of Sunland Drive. First Coast News reported that the victim was found with multiple gunshot wounds to his leg and foot.
Sgt. Richardson from the Violent Crimes Unit informed that the initial investigation suggests the victim was fast asleep when the roommate unleashed multiple shots. Officers promptly responded to the scene after being alerted to the shooting. The victim, fortunately, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital. The precise reasons behind this violent act are still veiled in uncertainty, with JSO stating they are unsure of the motive for the shooting. The suspect was later detained during a traffic stop by police while making his way through St. Johns County.
