
Yesterday evening, families in Jacksonville were treated to a fusion of literary enjoyment and artistic exploration at the Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens, in a collaboration with the Jacksonville Public Library and READ USA, aimed at bolstering community literacy. Mayor Donna Deegan was in attendance at the "Family Literacy Night at the Cummer Museum," delivering remarks to express the city's dedication towards fostering a culture of reading among its youth, as per the city's official website.
The event, featured the Mayor's River City Readers Bookmobile from 5 to 7 p.m., offered families the chance with free giveaways free books to build their own home libraries, they could also sign up for library cards, and learn invaluable literacy tips. The museum doors remained open late until 8 p.m., inviting attendees to wander through galleries and lush gardens.
Parents and children selected books from the Bookmobile’s collection and took part in activities aimed at developing early reading skills for different age groups. The programming aligns with the museum’s ongoing efforts to expand access to educational resources and support literacy-focused initiatives for families, as mentioned on the city's website.
