In an effort to address healthcare coverage gaps in Jacksonville, the city has rolled out the 2025 Get Covered Jax! campaign. Aimed at the uninsured, this initiative is the brainchild of Mayor Deegan and local healthcare leaders working out of City Hall since 2023. Its primary goal is quite straightforward – to make enrolling in a private healthcare plan less of a headache for those in need.

According to the City of Jacksonville's announcement, the campaign not only spreads the word about the importance of insurance but also walks citizens through coverage options and the finer points of navigating the Marketplace. In the past two years since its inception, the initiative has witnessed a dramatic upsurge. The enrollment of citizens on ACA plans in Duval County skyrocketed by 69%, a jump from 109,287 in 2023 to 184,795 in 2025.

Yet, with approximately 111,000 adults in Duval County still uninsured, the city isn't easing off the gas. They've tapped faith leaders, community health providers, and media outlets to amplify their message. To support this effort, on December 11, a team of health advisors and insurance agents will host a phone bank at WJCT Studios. They'll field questions, provide updates on changes, and extend a helping hand with plan enrollment from 7 am to 7 pm. Jacksonville residents looking for guidance can reach out at 904-516-2552.

The urgency of this campaign is heightened by the closing window for enrollment, which ends January 15, 2026. Despite the significant gains achieved, a considerable swath, nearly 10 percent of 19-65-year-olds in the region remain without coverage.
