The City of Jacksonville’s Military Affairs and Veterans Department (MAVD) is set to host a watch party for the storied Army-Navy Game. Scheduled for today at VyStar Ballpark, the event kicks off with gates opening at 2:00 p.m. and the game starting at 3:00 p.m. It's not just about football; it's also a fundraiser, with admissions set at a $5 donation that will fully benefit local veterans through various MAVD programs and services, as per an announcement covered by the City of Jacksonville’s official website.
Those in attendance will have plenty to keep them entertained they will have the opportunity to watch the fierce football rivalry on the giant scoreboard or within the comforts of the clubhouse, they'll be serenaded by the live music of the 3rd Infantry Division Band and, if parking is a concern, they’ll find respite in free parking available in Lot P. This family-friendly atmosphere is not exclusive, but rather a welcoming space open for both residents and visitors alike to nurture camaraderie and pride in support of their teams and their veterans.
Harrison Conyers, Director of the Military Affairs and Veterans Department, expressed excitement at the opportunity this event presents for community bonding and benevolence: “We’re excited to bring the community together for this iconic game while raising funds to support those who have served our nation,” Conyers elaborated on the dual joy of enjoying a classic game and assisting those who have dedicated themselves to the service of the country, as reported by the City of Jacksonville's government news release.
The MAVD Army–Navy Watch Party is a public and inclusive occasion with an assortment of food, beverages, and seating options peppered throughout the venue, an event where showing your team colors is highly encouraged; friends and families are invited to come together, have a good time in a safe, enjoyable environment and also make a lasting positive impact for servicemen and women who've done so much and given even more.
