A Jewish man was stabbed in Brooklyn's Crown Heights yesterday, an incident the NYPD is investigating as a possible antisemitic attack. The altercation, which occurred near the corner of Kingston Avenue and Lincoln Place, began with what appeared to be a random verbal dispute between the 35-year-old victim and the suspect. According to the police, the suspect made antisemitic comments prior to the stabbing, prompting an escalation to physical violence, the New York Post reports.

The suspect, described by the NYPD, was last seen wearing a black varsity jacket with the word "Genuine" and the number "91." After the dispute, the victim followed the assailant down the street, whereupon the suspect pulled out a sharp object and stabbed him, said officers. Despite the injury, the victim continued his pursuit for another block before the suspect slipped away. The man was later taken to Kings County Hospital Center and was in stable condition, as per ABC7 New York.

The Police Department has increased its presence in the area following the attack, which occurred just a block away from Chabad Lubavich World Headquarters. This follows a recent deadly antisemitic shooting at a Chabad community in Sydney during Hanukkah celebrations, intensifying concerns within the community. "We just had a huge tragedy in Bondi Beach and everybody in this neighborhood in particular is connected. We are all one body, literally, figuratively and it's horrible," Krana Nebenzahl, a Crown Heights resident and Chabad community member, told ABC7 New York.
