A fatal hit-and-run incident on Clinton Highway has led to the arrest of 57-year-old Steven Dockery from Knoxville. According to a social media post by the Knoxville Police Department, the collision occurred on the afternoon of December 13, 2025, involving a motorcycle and a black Chevrolet Uplander.
During the incident, which took place around 4:20 p.m., the motorcycle driver, an adult male, suffered critical injuries after his bike collided with the passenger side of the Uplander. The driver of the Uplander, which was making a left turn onto Bradshaw Garden Road at the time, fled the scene following the crash. Later, the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at a local hospital. Witnesses near the crash site and video footage helped in identifying the suspect vehicle, which authorities later discovered at an apartment complex on Mystic River Way.
Responding to the scene, officers investigated with the assistance of KPD's crash reconstruction team. They managed to locate the black Uplander a mere two hours after the crash had happened. On apprehending Dockery, he demonstrated signs of intoxication and was subsequently arrested. He now faces charges including vehicular homicide by intoxication and leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death.
The police department's announcement indicates that the crash is still an active investigation. Dockery's detainment and subsequent charge bring to the forefront the all-too-often reality of impaired driving and its devastating consequences. This incident, a stark reminder of such tragedies, highlights the ongoing challenge communities face in combating the menace of impaired driving and enforcing accountability.
