The Hawai‘i Police Department's Kona Community Policing Section is teaming up with the Kona Walmart and The Salvation Army to host the inaugural "Fill a Cruiser Holiday Toy Drive." Set for Saturday, Dec. 20, the event invites the Kona community to donate new, unwrapped toys to help keiki (children) in need. From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., a marked police sport utility vehicle parked at the Kona Walmart, 75-1015 Henry Street, according to the Hawai‘i Police Department.

The partnership, aiming to help expand The Salvation Army's holiday efforts, welcomes various community members to drop by with gifts. Officers, who will greet donors and assist with the incoming toys, are part of this community-inspired event. According to the Hawai‘i Police Department's announcement, The Salvation Army last year, brought holiday cheer to nearly 1,000 keiki and kūpuna (elders).

All the toys gathered during this one-day toy drive will be handed over directly to The Salvation Army, which will distribute them to families throughout West Hawai‘i.
