Lake Havasu City is set to host a Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day ceremony on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at 8:00 a.m. at London Bridge Beach Park. The occasion marks the 84th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor, with a special emphasis on the USS Arizona, a symbol of the enduring sacrifice made by many on that day. The event, organized by the Marine Corps League Detachment #757 and the USS Arizona Relic Committee, invites the public to honor those who lost their lives and those who demonstrated valor and resilience during the attack.
According to a publication by the city of Lake Havasu, the ceremony will include a viewing of a USS Arizona relic, an artifact from a ship that has come to represent the sacrifices made by both civilians and military personnel on December 7, 1941. The Marine Corps League Detachment #757 has acquired this piece of history, a 520-pound section from the battleship's aft deckhouse, to serve not only as a reminder of what transpired but, as an emblem of national honor and remembrance. The timing of the event at 8:10 a.m. is significant, symbolizing the exact moment the USS Arizona came under attack.
Federal authorization allows the Navy to distribute parts of the USS Arizona to various organizations, ensuring that the legacy of the individuals who served on that day is preserved and accessible to the public. In line with this, the relic in Lake Havasu City will be housed permanently at London Bridge Beach as part of a local initiative. The committee responsible is currently seeking donations to fund this endeavor, inviting community members and supporters to contribute to preserving this piece of American heritage.
Brian Springberg, fronting the efforts to house the relic appropriately, is the point of contact for those interested in making monetary and in-kind donations. The city of Lake Havasu encourages community participation both in the ceremony and the fundraising efforts, casting a reflective light on "these great Americans," as noted in their official statement. For more information on how to contribute, interested parties can reach out to Springberg by visiting the Lake Havasu City notice.
