Residents of Lewisville have a green option post-Christmas celebrations with the city's live Christmas tree recycling program, in a bid to reduce waste and produce useful compost for the community. Those looking to dispose of their live trees can do so at the Lewisville Lake Park soccer fields, conveniently located near Lake Park Road and North Mill Street, now through January 9, as part of an initiative encouraging sustainable disposal of the festive tree.
To ensure the recycling process runs smoothly, Lewisville officials are requesting that all trees be free from nails, wire, ornaments, lights, and tinsel before they are dropped off, while, in return, residents will have the opportunity to pick up free mulch starting December 26 through to January 31, the mulch suitable for a variety of uses such as in gardens flower beds, and for those with farmlands, it's perfectly good for livestock bedding.
The initiative is a joint effort by the Keep Lewisville Beautiful organization and the Parks and Recreation Department, aiming to promote the city's commitment to sustainability, the execution of which is made evident through their comprehensive Lewisville 2025 vision plan, a detailed guide that can be viewed online at the City of Lewisville.
