As the year winds down and the city gears up for the New Year's celebrations, the City of Marietta has announced its schedule changes for the upcoming holiday. In a recent news release, it was confirmed that the City of Marietta Administrative Offices as well as the Marietta Power and Water administrative offices will be closed on Thursday, January 1, in observance of New Year's Day, a routine practice for the city as it acknowledges the federal holiday.
The temporary closure will affect more than just the usual bureaucratic affairs; changes will also be made to the city's sanitation schedule, impacting garbage, brush/yard waste, and recycling collection for the week. Residents are encouraged to consult the Marietta Trash Talk app or check the city's website for up-to-date information on the adjusted holiday collection schedule.
Despite the holiday, residents should note that emergency services remain operational. According to the newsflash released by the City of Marietta, life-threatening emergencies can still be reported through the regular channel of 9-1-1, ensuring that even amidst the festivities, the safety net of emergency response is steadfast. For non-emergency police matters, citizens can contact the Marietta Police Department at 770-794-5300. Additionally, in case of any emergency involving Marietta Power or Water, the dedicated line at 770-794-5160 will be active. Animal Control will also be responding to emergency calls through 9-1-1, ensuring peace of mind for pet owners and animal enthusiasts alike during the holiday.
