Community engagement takes a sporty spin in Marysville, where first responders are set to hit the court for the Heroes & Hoops Charity Basketball Tournament. Scheduled for December 7, the event at Marysville Pilchuck High School aims to net donations for Seattle Children's Hospital and Toys for Tots. According to a recent social media post by Marysville WA Police, ticket holders bringing a new unwrapped toy can score a chance to win prizes, with ticket proceeds going to a noble cause.
The doors will open at 9:30 a.m., with games beginning at 10 a.m. For those attending, Santa is slated to make an appearance between noon and 2 p.m. for free photos, cheering alongside spectators as the teams of Arlington Police, Everett Police, and others showcase their basketball prowess, as stated by the Marysville WA Police. Demonstrating holiday spirit wrapped in a competitive package, participating teams from various local agencies, like the Marysville Professional Firefighters Local 3219 and Granite Falls Fire District 17, will take the court, sending a message of solidarity and community service.
Tickets for the drawing are available for purchase, priced at $10 each. Spectators are invited to root for teams that include the Snohomish County Sheriff and Tulalip Police, among others. The event underscores a community’s effort to rally for those in need, emphasizing the intersection where public service meets the power of play in the heart of Marysville. Crowds are expected to fill the stands at Marysville Pilchuck High School, located at 5611 108th St. NE.
