A quiet stretch along the 7600 block of South Central Expressway in East Oak Cliff turned into a crime scene last Friday, when Dallas Fire-Rescue crews discovered two people shot to death in what police say appears to be a murder-suicide.
Investigators say a 30-year-old man died from what looks to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound, and a woman was also found fatally shot at the scene. Both were pronounced dead shortly after midday.
What Police Say
The Dallas Police Department logged the case under number 177484-2025, after officers were dispatched around 12:35 p.m. following a request from Dallas Fire-Rescue. Detectives are treating the incident as a murder-suicide, with the male victim believed to have shot the woman before turning the gun on himself.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective R. Kramer at 214-671-3608 or by email at [email protected], police said.
Scene And Timeline
Authorities identified the suspected gunman as 30-year-old William Ramirez-Garcia. Investigators say he shot the female victim and later died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot, with officers finding both victims dead at the location not long after the initial call, as reported by The Dallas Morning News.
The woman’s name has not been released, as authorities are still working to notify her family. Police have not publicly discussed a motive and say the circumstances leading up to the shooting remain under active investigation.
Oak Cliff Context
The deadly shooting adds to a string of recent high-profile violent incidents in East Oak Cliff that have rattled residents and fueled safety worries. Local coverage has highlighted multiple incidents in the neighborhood, including a case last month where shots were fired at an Oak Cliff gas station, sending one person to the hospital, as per Hoodline. Friday’s murder-suicide, unfolding in the middle of the day along a busy corridor, is likely to deepen community concern.
What Investigators Are Asking
Detectives say they are still piecing together what happened on South Central Expressway and why. They are asking anyone who witnessed the shooting, heard anything unusual around that time, or has surveillance or cellphone video from the area to come forward.
