Milton's Design Review Board is gearing up for a busy Tuesday session, tasked with deliberating over the fate of six properties, according to the city's announcement. Among the structures facing the wrecking ball, three are City-owned. For those interested in witnessing the local governance in action, the December 2 meeting will be accessible both in-person at 6 p.m. in City Hall's Council Chambers and for the wider digital audience via live stream, as per the City of Milton.
Accountable for assessing the aesthetic impact and approving demolitions within Milton, the Design Review Board's upcoming agenda includes a range of residential structures, set to be razed from the familiar landscapes of HOPEWELL and LACKEY ROADS. The properties in question encompass a diverse collection: from ranch-style homes and accompanying outbuildings to a split-level house intimately woven into the City of Milton's greenspace narrative. The details of the properties were made public ahead of the board meeting, illustrating Milton's commitment to transparency in its development and land use changes, even as the city's fabric is reshaped with new constructions.
Two ranch homes at 13490 and 14750 HOPEWELL ROAD are slated for discussion, with plans indicating potential new residential development. The meeting agenda also includes a deteriorating house within the embrace of the expansive 104.6-acre Lakhapani Preserve, and at 2545 BETHANY BEND, a 2.48-acre City-owned parcel adjacent to North Park is on the dock. The modest 872-square foot house at 13995 HOPEWELL ROAD rounds out the list of proposed demolitions, as Milton continues to balance growth with its existing green spaces.
While the DRB's role is largely advisory, their recommendations carry weight, influencing the Community Development Director's final decisions on new developments and the alteration of existing structures. The meeting isn't only focused on the impending transformations of these properties; the board will also take time to approve its 2026 meeting schedule.
