This year marks 150 years of service for the Milwaukee Fire Department. Throughout the year, we will be sharing stories from our history and highlighting key moments that shaped how we serve our community, according to the Milwaukee Fire Department's Facebook post.

On Wednesday over the years, Milwaukee Fire Department responded to several major fires, including a 2nd alarm at Sycamore and Water Streets in 1912 and a 3rd alarm at Northwester Production Co. in 1953, the same year the department’s radio system went into service. Additional significant incidents occurred in 1969, 1970, 1983, and 1994, including fires with civilian and firefighter fatalities.

More recent December 24 responses include a 2nd alarm fire on North 36th Street in 2000 and another at East Hamilton Place in 2006. These events honor the dedication and sacrifice of Milwaukee Fire Department members past and present as we reflect on 150 years of service.
